Sierra Oral/Maxillofacial Imaging Center, Inc, (SOMFIC) is now offering a truly state of the art CBCT scanner for your utilization. This particular scanner, the NewTom VG, is years ahead of competing CT scanners, including all CBCT scanners on the market. This is due to several advances, including a large, ultra sensitive detector that acquires an image with slice thicknesses as low as 0.08 mm, with 1024 x 1024 pixels per slice (not the 0.6 mm/slice with 512 x 512 pixels that the old “slice” scanners give) and each pixel is digitized at 16 binary bits (VS.. 14 bits in the best of the competing CBCT scanners). In addition, patient radiation exposure is about 2/3 that of competing CBCT scanners, and about 1/400 of a hospital “slice scanner! A typical scan gives the patient less radiation exposure than a conventional film FMX!

This means that you have the ability to get the highest quality diagnostic imaging available while dramatically reducing radiation exposure to your patients!

With a single 18 second scan, an unlimited number of anatomical images can be produced, (with no distortion or elongation) including Panoramic, Cephalometric, Pre and Post Orthodontic imaging and precise Regions Of Interest (ROI) including Implant Sites, Sinuses, Inner and Outer ear, Airway studies, Nerve visualization and Impacted teeth.
